The film, directed by Vikram Seth, will be released on February 26.
The film is an adaptation of Rekha Mishra’s bestselling novel, ‘Sarkar’ written by actor Shilpa Shetty.
The film will also feature an English dub.
The movie has a script by Shetty and a script from filmmaker Ravi Shetty, who is also producing the film.
The script will be completed by Shettty, Seth and Shetty’s producing partner Kunal Kapoor.
“Sarkhar’ is a true love story between a man and a woman,” Seth told The Globe and Mail.
The story takes place in a Mumbai neighbourhood in which the city’s rich and powerful families are often involved in sexual abuse of vulnerable children.
The novel has sold more than 4.5 million copies in India and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
Seth is a native of New York City and has acted in several films, including The King of Queens, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Amazing Spider-Man.
